St. Joseph parishioners are invited to continue our tradition of contributing to those less fortunate during the holidays through the Giving Tree Program. We have been asked to assist 100 families through Catholic Charities, which is an increase over past years. This year, we will also be providing clothes & toys to the families in need at the Wakefield Food Pantry and the Boys and Girls Club of Wakefield. As always we will also provide gift bags to close to 150 local nursing home and home-bound residents.
There will be bulletin boards set up in the hall with tags the weekend of Nov 20th and 21st. To make it easier to find a specific gift request, each bulletin board will include a different category of gifts:
1) Nursing home gifts
2) Gift certificate and fuel assistance requests
3) Toy and clothing requests
4) Clothing & toys for the Boys and Girls Club
If you would like to choose your tag online, this link will take you to our SignUpGenius sheet where you can click on the signup button to donate a specific item.

The Giving Tree Program benefits the following:
Toy, Clothing, and Gift Card Requests – Tags include specific gift requests for clothing and toys, department and food store gift certificates & fuel assistance checks. Checks can be made payable to Catholic Charities or St. Vincent de Paul. Agencies that benefit from your generosity include Catholic Charities, St Vincent de Paul Society (Wakefield needy), the Wakefield Food Pantry, and the Boys and Girls Club of Wakefield.
Nursing Home Gift Bags – We have close to 150 Catholic residents either homebound or in area nursing homes. It is our intent to give each person a similar gift bag. In order to do this, we are asking for specific items, which will be used to create multiple gift bags.
All gifts & gift certificates should be returned with tags attached on December 4th and 5th during all Masses. Please do not turn in gifts any earlier, as storage is a problem. Gifts should be unwrapped, although donations of gift bags and wrapping paper are welcome.
***If you purchased a gift certificate, we’d prefer to have them in a marked envelope and not in a gift bag. Please indicate the gift card amount or provide the purchase receipt.
**Please be sure to hand the gift certificate to a volunteer or turn them into the rectory to prevent loss.
Thank you for your overwhelming generosity and support. Please contact Rose Finn at 781-258-4164 email: rfinn@baycolony.org or Janet Rivers at 781-910-5011 with questions or to help.
