This year, Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday, but it cannot be combined with the Sunday liturgy. Therefore, we attend Mass once for the Sunday liturgy (the 4th Sunday of Advent) and once for Christmas. New Year’s Day, dedicated to Mary, Mother of God, is not a holy day of obligation this year.
